FACS 241 - 003
Architectural Drafting
Architectural drafting explores creating different types of floor plans, elevations, and details as well as lettering and line weights, all of which are done by hand.
01
The Palmer Residence
The Palmer residence was a top-to-bottom renovation from start to finish. This included a demolition plan, kitchen detail as well as a reflected ceiling plan. These were hand drafted to scale and contained details about the remodels.
02
Building Section
The goal of this assignment was to gain a deeper understanding of the internal aspects of a building. A quick reproduction of the building section was done for designers to practice completing plans quickly for clients. Everything was to-scale and was to remain proportional.

03
Wall Detail
In order to grasp the concepts of what goes into a building's construction, drafts were hand-drawn of a wall detail to do just this. Building components, hatching, and lettering were included in the sections' recreation.
04
Line Weights and Elevation
For these assignments, the goal was to demonstrate different line weights. From the cabinetry to the refrigerator, counters, and floors in the elevation assignment, the changes in line weights were shown.

05
Isometric Projection
3D boxes of different shapes and sizes were made on an isometric grid. This is crucial for designers as it makes it easy to explain ideas to clients and can be used to scale different structures. Line weights were also displayed in this assignment.
06
Lettering
As evidence of a clear understanding of lettering and its standards, designers wrote the alphabet, numbers, name, and bible verse. As this would be used for all other assignments, it is important to neatly draft writings.
