The concept of interior design is that there is functionality in art. A space can serve its purposes while still maintaining a sense of visual appeal. I believe the best-designed spaces allow a room to do just this. A home should be a place of rest and gathering amongst family and friends - it is much more than just a home, it is a space where we spend our time with loved ones and take our rest after a long day. The spaces in which we live should reflect our lives and interests.
